Imagine Piano Sheet Music

Enjoy Piano Music More By Learning to Read Sheet Music

Generally, there are two ways by which you can learn to play a musical instrument: either you train yourself to listen carefully to how it is played, then mimic it or you can go down to the very details by consulting sheet music.

The piano is not an exception to this. Many players, even professional ones, create piano music using either method. Most, though, have an inclination to the former since it is a procedure easier and freer. But then,  it still pays to study and make music by being guided by sheet music. There are quite a number of advantages when you do so, and here are some of them:

Accuracy

If you learn to play the piano by reading music, you enhance your playing’s accuracy, specifically in terms of the way you render songs. Since the notes are presented on the sheet music, it is easier for you to reproduce a song the way it was exactly played by the original composer. You see, if you just depend on how your ear perceives melodies, experiencing inaccuracies may be a little too inevitable. Of course, there is a possibility that when you just listen to music, you may have a different interpretation of it, or not hear some notes being played here and there. Thus, you miss out on faithfully sticking to how the song is supposed to sound. When you know how to read music, this is prevented because all you have to do is read and follow the notes.

Improvisation with basis

However, it does not necessarily mean that when you play piano music by adhering to sheet music adherence, you have to be restrained. Sure, it is all about playing the song in the most exact way possible, but then it should not be as limiting as it may seem. What this experience does is to allow you to precisely know the song, then from there do your own approximates. It is easier to deviate from what You Are playing when you know what you are playing. How can you freely play around the playground if you have fears of ending up in a ditch somewhere or bumping your head on a low-lying tree? In the same way, you have to be very familiar with the piece you are playing to be able to effectively toy with it, musically speaking.

Knowledge backed by theory

If you are able to read sheet music, your understanding of notation, chord structure, and other aspects of music theory becomes better. Others view this side of music as very technical, but then, you should not be overwhelmed by it. In fact, this could help you in composing your own songs. If you can imagine how the notes would sound, and be able to write and read them, then your compositions will have a tighter arrangement. Too, being able to read music entitles you to a heightened musical awareness.

Playing with an ensemble

You want a gig that is one of a kind? How about playing in a classical ensemble? Sounds good, ey? Well, YOU better sound good when you play in such a group. Actually, if you want to land on big time gigs as this (or its more modern counterparts like a Beyonce or an Usher concert, etc.), you should know how to read music. In occasions like these, it is required for you to play piano music via sheet music because here, musicians are tasked to stick to how the songs are played. No deviation should be made in order to have solid coordination among the musicians and performers.
